Health Guarantee

At William’s Purebreed Border Collies, the health and wellbeing of our puppies is our highest priority. Every puppy is sold with a written health guarantee to provide peace of mind and ensure a responsible transition into their new home.

All puppies are guaranteed to be in good health at the time of adoption and free from signs of infection or contagious disease. Within 10 days of purchase, the buyer must have the puppy examined by a licensed veterinarian. If, within this 10-day period, a licensed veterinarian determines that the puppy is clinically ill or has died as a result of an illness or injury likely contracted on or before the date of sale, you must notify us immediately to discuss next steps.

While we take every precaution to produce healthy puppies, we recognize that a puppy’s long-term health is influenced by genetics, nutrition, exercise, environment, and ongoing care. Although we cannot guarantee that a puppy will never experience a health issue, we guarantee that we will act responsibly and in good faith to ensure every puppy leaves our care healthy and properly prepared for life with its new family.

One-Year Genetic Health Coverage

In the unlikely event that a puppy passes away within one year of its date of birth due to a genetically related cause, or is diagnosed within that same timeframe with a congenital or hereditary condition that significantly affects quality of life, William’s Purebreed Border Collies will provide a replacement puppy of equal value at no cost.

The cause of death or diagnosis must be confirmed in writing by a licensed veterinarian. While we understand that no puppy is replaceable, we believe that offering another puppy can help ease the loss during a difficult time.

Buyer Responsibilities

To maintain the validity of this health guarantee, we require the following:

  • A licensed veterinary examination within 4 business days of receiving your puppy
  • A copy of the veterinary report or medical record must be provided within that timeframe
  • Puppies leave our care with up-to-date, age-appropriate vaccinations
  • Do not administer vaccinations within the first 10 days after receiving your puppy unless advised by your veterinarian
  • Buyers are responsible for continuing proper deworming schedules and routine veterinary care through at least 16 weeks of age

Exceptions to the Health Guarantee

This guarantee does not cover or apply to the following:

  • Temperament, disposition, size, weight, color, markings, conformation, or breeding ability
  • Conditions caused by neglect, obesity, injury, or improper care
  • Failure to provide timely veterinary care or vaccinations
  • Costs associated with spaying or neutering, including cryptorchidism (undescended testes)

Failure to comply with the outlined veterinary care requirements will void this guarantee.

Veterinary Health Examination

All puppies undergo a comprehensive veterinary health examination prior to placement. This examination is documented using our Veterinary Health Report, completed by a licensed veterinarian close to the puppy’s departure date.

The evaluation includes assessment of:

  • Cardiovascular

  • Eyes, ears, mouth, teeth, and gums
  • Musculoskeletal
  • Respiratory
  • Urogenital
  • Gastrointestinal

Each report is carefully reviewed before a puppy is approved for placement. Buyers are also required to have their puppy examined by their own licensed veterinarian within four days of delivery.
